Course Overview
The role of the Chief Resident is rapidly evolving. Chief residents now can count among their duties ensuring accreditation compliance, coaching and correcting junior colleagues, and monitoring the well-being of fellow physicians. Chief residents are being asked to assume a leadership position that requires the use of new competencies, skills, and behaviors.
To support this expanded role, SCS has created an innovative Chief Leadership Skills Workshop for chiefs whose appointment begins the following academic year. This full-day workshop will provide participants with an in-depth look at the roles and responsibilities of a chief resident, practical ways to manage stress, and tips for teaching and giving feedback using critical leadership skills.
Participants completing the program will receive a certificate of completion, useful for documenting professional development.
